Location in Leicester

Westfields Tennis Club lies in Western Park, a suburb around a mile to the West of Leicester city centre, making it the most central tennis club in Leicestershire.

As well as servicing Western Park and the city centre, Westfields is also the closest club to De Montfort University and the suburbs of Braunstone, Glenfield, and New Parks.

Free parking at Westfields Tennis Club

The Club is in the quiet Eastfield Road cul-de-sac just off the A47 (Hinckley Road) - the main road into Leicester from the west of the city.

This proximity to the A47 gives the club excellent transport links and means that, as well as the free off-road parking provided at the club, there are numerous buses from both the city centre and the surrounding county.

The Clubs' Courts

There are four courts at Westfields, all of which were re-laid in 2007.
Two of these courts are artificial grass (1 floodlit) and two are hard courts (1 floodlit)

Club House and Facilities

The Clubhouse
The Clubhouse

The clubhouse includes changing and showering facilities for men and women. There are also full cooking facilities and a small number of non-alcoholic drinks and sweets available for purchase. There is also a main room with good visibility of Court 1.

Outside, the club has free off-road parking and benches in various locations suitably placed to allow all four courts to be watched.

The club received a grant in 1997 to make all the club's facilities wheelchair friendly making the club suitable for disabled persons.

Social Tennis

Social Tennis

Westfields maintains a strong social ethic and there are numerous mixed and single sex social sessions every week. In addition to these regular sessions there are numerous intra-club tournaments, competitions and events both on and off the court throughout the year.

For more information on social tennis at Westfields, please visit our Social Tennis Page.

For more information on events at Westfields off the tennis court, please visit our News and Events Page.

Competitive Tennis

Westfields enter teams across a wide range of standards with the philosophy that all those who wish to play competitive tennis should be able to do so. In the Summer Westfields currently enter three men's doubles teams, three ladies' doubles teams, two mixed doubles teams as well as one Men's team in the Aegon Team Tennis league who play a combination of singles and doubles. In the winter Westfields enter three men's doubles teams and three ladies' teams.

For more information on the teams, please visit our Team Tennis Page.

Juniors Tennis at Westfields Tennis Club

The juniors at Westfields have been at both the heart of the club and the Western Park area for generations with numerous graduates going on to compete for the senior teams. Players start coming to the club from the age of 4 and stay with the juniors until the age of 16, following which there is a 2-year 'intermediary' stage.

As with the seniors, juniors are able to play both competitively and socially. Competitively, we run junior teams at all of the LTA's 'mini' stages and enter numerous boys, girls, and mixed teams that are able to cater for all members and abilities.

Social sessions run throughout the year both on weeknight evenings (Tuesdays and Thursdays) and at weekends (Saturday morning). In addition to these social sessions, coaching blocks run throughout the year. These sessions currently take place on Saturday mornings, as well as Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings. In addition to these regular sessions there are a number of tournaments and special events run throughout the year.

For more information on junior play please visit our Juniors' Page.

For more on our club coach and junior events he is running please visit the Coach's Corner.
